Because black holes do not have magnetic fields, Dr Schild's team suggest in The Astronomical Journal, the quasar must be powered by a dense ball of plasma called a MECO (magnetospheric eternally collapsing object). But according to the astronomers' theories the MECOs' existence precludes the possibility of black holes.

Here's an interesting synchronicity in all this. The first modern theoretician to posit the existence of black holes was named Schwarzschild, after whom the so-called "event horizon" or "Schwarzschild radius" is named. The current "debunker" of black holes is named "Schild." "Schwarz" in German means "black," so what Schild has done both symbolically (in his name) and literally (by his observations) is to remove the "black" (no light can escape) from black hole.
