Reality check
When the human species' unnerving arrogance gets you down, I've found you can do worse than consider the unthinkable enormity of the Cosmos. If nothing else, it will clear your head of celebrity gossip, healthcare reform and the ever-pressing Twitter/Facebook debate.

I think I'm going to cry.
Think of this, too. We still could actually, essentially, be alone, even amidst all that. What if we alone have our kind of consciousness and never contact any other life with which we do so much as flash firefly signals?
We could just pass unnoticed. As perhaps others have before.
