Tweenbots

From the official Tweenbots site:

But of more interest to me was the fact that this ad-hoc crowdsourcing was driven primarily by human empathy for an anthropomorphized object. The journey the Tweenbots take each time they are released in the city becomes a story of people's willingness to engage with a creature that mirrors human characteristics of vulnerability, of being lost, and of having intention without the means of achieving its goal alone.

Epidermits, meet LoveLump.

Scariest Toy Concept Ever: The Epidermits Thing

Oh, this is much worse than you think. The Epidermits toy is the Karten Design firm's bizarro, conceptual end of several current trends in the toy/gadget industry, like personalization, fuel cell engineering, and animatronics. It is the scariest concept design I've ever seen.

The scariest, you say? Obviously, you've never encountered the LoveLump, pictured below.

You know you want this.

Japanese company builds your robotic twin

What you get for your money is a 40cm tall doll fashioned in your image, which can synthesize your voice and recite RSS feeds. It runs on Windows XP and responds to voice commands. The dolls are equipped with a 500MHz processor with 512MB of RAM.

Just what my bachelor pad needs: plush clones of me chattering away in my own voice. I'm sure my cats would positively love it.

We now pause for this important message from our sponsors.

Wow -- take a look:

Oddly obsessed with all things robot, married couple Nicholas and Angela from Kansas City, Missouri, decided on a whim one day to do nothing other than to build one themselves.

After piecing together parts found at their favorite antique and thrift stores, they created their first robot friend. Since that first day, Nicholas and Angela have added many fabulously geeky robots to their beloved robotic collection.

Kansas City, Missouri? That's where I live!

Alien Will Kick Your Ass at Chess

It's been a while since I've stolen somebody's queen, but two alien-themed chess sets are putting me in the mood to do it. You can pick between AVP or aliens vs. Ripley.

I suppose I'm a little disturbed at how cool I think this is, especially since I'm an abhorrent chess player.

World's Smallest Solar Car: Select Solar Mini

Talk about bringing solar power to the palm of your hand! The World’s Smallest Solar Racing Car is a tiny, fully-functional solar powered vehicle topped with a minuscule photovoltaic panel.

Add a miniature Martian landscape and -- voila! -- you have a respectable diorama of the Mars Pathfinder mission.

I just realized that Scientology's Xenu bears a decided resemblance to the "Flatwoods Monster."

Coincidence?
