Just a quick post to thank everyone who reads this blog for stopping by and to wish everyone the best of holidays.

I've deactivated my Facebook account. This is the second time I've done so and most likely the last. I hope I can continue to remain in touch with Facebook contacts through email, which is how many of us met in the first place.

I've tentatively launched a new collaborative photo-blog, Things That Look Like Flying Saucers. It's pretty self-explanatory. Spread the meme.

I've created a new poll (located on the sidebar). You may select more than one answer.

I've added yet more photos to my Flickr stream. From now on I doubt that I'll blog new photos; Flickr will suffice, at least for the most part. Also, I've decided to pick up a respectable digital camera instead of relying on my cellphone. (I found myself in a Wal-Mart in Laramie and was surprised at how inexpensive they've become.)

I'm putting Posthuman Blues on a week's hiatus, as I'll be out-of-state helping shoot a documentary (in which I'll actually appear at some length). My first jaunt, which begins Sunday, will take me to Wyoming and Wisconsin, respectively. I'll be speaking with Jeffrey Lockwood and Maggie Turnbull about -- you guessed it -- alien life.

I plan on keeping a minimal online presence by updating my Twitter page through my cellphone. Alternatively, you can check out the five most recent "tweets" on this blog's sidebar.

Boring blog news:

No, I haven't tired of the new masthead; I've merely put it in storage while I devise a way to display it properly. (I'm pretty sure I know how, too -- but if I keep experimenting I'll be up half the night with relatively little to show for it except, possibly, mutilated HTML.)

So in the meantime I'm reverting to the Blogger's sky-blue default banner. But rest assured something better's on the way.

Huge thanks to Denny Unger of WorldWorks Games for his considerable help in giving PB an overdue facelift. If you'll pardon the narcissism (yes, that's me looking angsty over on the right), I think it's dead-on.




I had hair then.


My only complaint rests with Blogger itself, whose template obstinately refuses to let me replace the generic masthead but does let me resize a graphic and post it on top of the default graphic. For example, I was unable to erase the blue "chiclets" you see on the left-hand side. Not that they necessarily look bad, but I would have preferred to post Denny's graphic in its original full-size glory. (He actually sent me two of them, one blue; I thought the gray version contrasted better with the background.)
