Slitherbot

I confess: I'm an unabashed fan of robot demonstration videos (especially if said robots are biomimetic). But as much as I've appreciated previously posted robot vids, this metamorphic, seemingly unstobbable "slitherbot" ranks as one of my recent favorites.

Nimble little minx, isn't it?

It'll be searching for people in collapsed buildings in 5 years, and a toy "cyberpet" version will be on the market in 10. In 11 years, hackers will have modded them to string cable and climb up the sides of buildings with RFID scanners and webcams.

I agree that using these cybersnakes to locate survivors after Earthquakes catastrophes is the most noble endeavor for this project; but... I just KNOW that right now there's someone at the NSA headquarters salivating profusely after watching this clip :-(

The Israeli's are already working on something similar as a battle field robot. I actually sent Mac this article and accompanying video back in June...
