Chapter I: The Discovery

From We Make Money Not Art:

Anyone visiting LABoral Art and Industrial Creation Centre before September 7 will get face to face with a mysterious installation by young artist Félix Luque Sánchez. Chapter I: The Discovery is an impenetrable, geometric object and a series of videos restaging the moment of its discovery, as if it were a scene from a sci-fi movie, where the hero is suddenly confronted with an alien, slightly chilling figure.

It's interesting how an idea that's kind of a cliche in movie science fiction (mysterious alien object that emits light and sound in an attempt to communicate) can be given new life when someone realizes it as a sculpture.

Nice synchronicity. Last night I watched the COSMOS chapter "The backbone of night", where Sagan talks about the Pythagoreans' obsession with the 5 regular solids. The dodecahedron was, of course, the one that was associated with the perfection of the heavens.

I bought the COSMOS DVD collection mainly because of you, Mac ;-)
