Rich Nations' Climate Emissions Up, Near Record

Rich nations' greenhouse gas emissions rose near to an all-time high in 2005, led by US and Russian gains despite curbs meant to slow global warming, UN data showed.

You read that correctly. Greenhouse emissions are up. Among rich countries -- the ones that know better and upon which the rest of the industrialized world will partly base its own trajectory into the rest of the 21st century.

I'm beginning to think we have a better shot at terraforming Mars than taking straightforward precautionary measures here on Earth.

You would think that we would be smarter than to do this to ourselves... what with our high IQ scores and all!

Rich countries aren't concerned with climate change or the ice caps melting.

Hell, the megacorps and their lackey govt's are planning to exploit the opening North West passage and laying claim to Arctic Ocean continental shelves for mining and oil drilling!

As the price of oil rises above $100 per barrel, some green ideas may start to look a lot better to all of those who doubt the global warming scenario. The pocket book may be the real eye opener to advancing renewable and cooler energy supplies. We shall see!
