Shouting Big Brother Cameras To Use Child Voices

A previously localized trial of CCTV cameras that allow local government officials to monitor people in the streets and shout orders at anyone they deem to be acting in an anti-social manner is to be enforced nationwide across the UK. In a bizarre psychological move the cameras will speak in a child's voice.

In an incredibly Orwellian move, loudspeakers are to be fitted to surveillance cameras throughout major cities, allowing CCTV operators to bark commands at people who drop litter, act in an aggressive manner or loiter.

If some Orwellian camera/audio system started yelling at me in some childish voice to pick up a piece of litter, or anything as equally petty, I'd come back later with a child's mask, a powerful paintball gun, and blind the camera. Or, more intelligently, perhaps a series of different cameras I wasn't previously recorded on, including (or not) the one that hassled me.

Then I'd use a strong pellet gun to blow a few holes in the speaker box, yell a few things myself, using a voice distorter device, and leave a poster from the latest Wachowski movie (V) with the appropriate printed anti-surveillance message and a picture of the main character.

I'd sign the printed letter (use gloves to eliminate fingerprints!) Neo, and it would be addressed to Mr. Smith (From the Matrix).

Comprehensive surveillance is one thing, but when someone tells me to do something like "Stop loitering!", well, it's time to do something about it, in turn. Like eliminate the cause/source.

And to encourage others so inclined to do the same. I don't intend to live in "1984" or "Brave New World", even if society is tending in that direction, anytime soon. Resist the corporate mentality, brothers and sisters! Unite in freedom!!! 8^}

Of course, on the other hand, these systems would probably be quickly replaced. Can't have loiterers standing around! Oops! Dropped a cigarette butt! Stop that strangely dressed foreign-looking man!

Upon reflection, I would guess that a more sane, legal, and possibly effective process would be to gather political and social input, discussion, and advocacy to stop such comprehensive visual/audio surveillance by legal means and legislation.

If that means is fully explored, and still doesn't stop the Orwellians, _then_ blind and deafen the sources of surveillance. OTOH, then the cameras and microphones and speakers might be made smaller and more discreet, well-protected, and/or each element moved to different configs for evasion of counter-surveillance.

Hmmm...that's it! Spy on the spies! Even good ole' Jacques Vallee suggested that part of ufology is not just investigation but counter-surveillance...why am I now imagining the endless recursive jockeying between the black spy and the white spy, ala Mad magazine?

Heh. That's probably not a good answer, either. Suggestions?

Oh, yeah, Mac. You're right. Call for FREEEEEDOMMMMM!!! Not to mention decency, ethics, social mores, and just plain old civil rights...FEAR NOT! Participate! 8^}

If some street camera barks orders at me, I shall tell them to "f*** off".

There's some weird stuff going on in England right now with implementing new things "for our benefit."

The tracking devices placed in personal rubbish bins, for example, the plans for the new car tax systems, etc.

Don't worry though: those Brits that have not yet realized what is happening will ultimately take notice and then things will start to happen.

Do a Google on "Poll Tax Riots" and see what happened when the Government went too far with that.

In fact, here's a good link for you. It shows what can happen when people do rise up and make a stand. Arguably the Poll Tax Riots led to the fall of the regime of Margaret Thatcher. It's never too late to make a stand.

"...tracking devices in personal rubbish bins, for example..."

What the hell is _that_ about, Nick? What's the purpose of that?

Oh, and btw, did you all know your personal rubbish/trash, when placed on the street for weekly pickup, is not "legally" owned by you? That's how the CIA, in part, nailed Aldrich Ames and how the FBI did the same with Robert Hanssen. So, don't leave things in your trash you don't want others to use, potentially, against you. It's becoming a rather weird world, innit?

Heil! Bushism uber alles! 8^{
