Today I noticed that the kitschy "Face On Mars" comic-book popularized by you-know-who features a Martian visage with a distinct "horn" between the eyes . . .

There's an extraordinarily lame conspiracy theory here. I can feel it.

I forget. Did the original Face on Mars comic-book cover you posted a while back sport a Face with (shall we say) a "brow protrubance" or are we seeing yet MORE imagery hanky-panky here?

You mean the cover I reposted here?

Yeah. But I can't imagine someone retro changing the cover to fit the ESA imagery. (Well, actually I can but for now I'll assume the comic-book cover didn't change!) So here comes my lame conspiracy theory. Whoever generated (mis-generated, evidently) the ESA image HAD THE FACE COMIC BOOK IN MIND and was (merely!) perpetrating a kind of little "in joke" for the Mars geology community.

The comic-book image is the same one that was on my hard-drive when I posted it the first time -- but nice try! :-)
