I love the drowned, presumably toxic, city. Royo is great at envisioning dark futures where the Singularity has gone horrifically awry, reducing humans to fetishistic props. (Paradoxically, the women in his illustrations seem basically immune to their blighted surroundings -- mirage-like sirens lying in wait for unwary tourists.)
(Click here to read an old essay I wrote about Royo's science fiction art.)

She obviously knows how to stay cool after global warming has melted the polar caps and flooded the coastal cities.
you call a pic of a women holding a dead baby a "pinup"? whatever turns you on i guess...
For me it looks just like another model of Cylon watching self-induced apocalypse (any BSG fans here?). But isn't it the Chrysler Building just in the middle?
And is it really a dead baby or maybe only a dead doll?

Considering its position, is there supposed to be a suggestion of giving birth here? If so, does that means it's stillborn? I mean how do we know its "dead"? (Doll OR baby.) Maybe it's just gazing up adoringly at "Mommy." At least that would explain the dead (?) teddy bear in the foreground and the other assorted weird (toy?) critters lying around.
It's clearly a doll, not an actual baby.

Hmm, this Royo fellows work is, with some interesting differences, very reminiscent of Hajime Sorayama.
Argh, "fellow's" dammit. Curse my damnably-quick fingers!
Razorsmile--
They both hail from the same memetic interzone, with a little Giger thrown in for good measure.
Don't be surprised if I post more Royo paintings.
