Asexuals Unite

"Sexuality is like any other activity," says David Jay, AVEN's 23-year-old founder. "There are people for whom skydiving, chocolate cake and soccer are their world. But some people don't like skydiving, chocolate cake or soccer. There's no reason to focus your energy and attention on something you feel no reason to do anything about."

I'm not asexual. But sometimes I aspire to be.

I'm not asexual by choice.

Interesting. I'm definitely not asexual and don't aspire to be either. On the other hand, I've never been a fan of casual sex and so have generally gone the dinners-and-relationships route. Right now, I'm relationshipped out and taking a l-o-o-o-o-o-n-g vacation from relationships, period. This turns out to be a highly salutary practice IMHO, and one that more people might do well to adopt, asexual or no. (But just as I don't believe in casual sex neither do I believe in relationships without sex -- why anyone would want to just live with someone remains beyond me. Do some people really LIKE having someone -- even a good "friend" -- in their face all the time? Not I!)

It's all chemisty. Tidal forces that shape your perspective on the issue.

Me myself, I would like to be a sexual. I never should have stopped my meds which kept me in a 3 week state of Euphoria. Now its just a pleasant memory.

And speaking of meds, Viagra actually has the following warning on the label:

"If erection persists for more than 4 hours, seek immediate medical assistance."

Oh, nurse....
