Strange I never noticed this before. Assuming the image isn't Photoshopped, could the builders of Machu Picchu have purposefully incorporated their city into a naturally occurring facial likeness? Or did they have a hand in fashioning the mountains into a facial profile in the first place?

I'm guessing there was some resemblance to a face in profile originally, which was then brought out by PhotoShopping it. Uncovering the truth in this regard would be an interesting mini-project. If it wasn't PhotoShopped, then the Incas must have "helped" the mountain to look like a Face, since it's hard to imagine a natural resemblance being THAT accurate.

A point of comparison might be the Old Man in the Mountain in New Hampshire which used to look SOMEWHAT like a face in profile from the park viewing platform (although, to my eyes, more like The Thing of Fantastic Four fame). I say "used to" since, alas, the Old Man in the Mountain is no more since a couple of years ago some superpatriot idiots tried planting a giant American flag on the "brow" of the Old Man, causing the whole formation to crumble. (I've always thought of this event as nature's way -- or ONE of nature's ways -- of protesting the Bush regime.)

Look at this image, which seems to be more like the other pix in a googple image search.

I'd be inclined to say that they one you presented was Photoshopped, or taken with a lens that distorted it in a way that was favorable to what they wanted. The lips are just perfect, the chin a bit too sharp, but the big schnozz allowable at that altitude. By contrast, the other images seem to show the nose even bigger, and the mouth much more primitive.

Carol,

Looks like a Photoshop job to me too. Apparently the mountains were shrunk down to approximate facial proportions.
