"These particles have much similarity with biological cells though they are devoid of DNA," wrote Godfrey Louis and A. Santhosh Kumar of Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam, India, in the controversial paper.
"Are these cell-like particles a kind of alternate life from space?"
The mystery began when the scarlet showers containing the red specks hit parts of India in 2001. Researchers said the particles might be dust or a fungus, but it remained unclear.

..."devoid of DNA"... ?!? Then, "It's life, Mac, but not as we know it". Seriously, this hillbilly doesn't see how it's organic life without DNA or an equivalent. While the precursors to life molecules are found everywhere, even in interstellar space, thereby intimating life's ubiquitousness, and certainly increasing the probability of Panspermia, this does not sound like a life find to me.
And, don't scratch inside the cast! No matter how much it itches. Listen to me, on this one I know what I'm talking about. Just don't. Promise.
