A University physicist has proposed that temperature fluctuations in microwave radiation may contain messages from the universe's creator.
"It's one of the most speculative possible hypotheses," said associate professor Stephen Hsu, a member of the University's Institute of Theoretical Science.
However, it may be 20 or 30 years before experimental physicists develop instruments refined enough to collect the data necessary to test this hypothesis, Hsu said.

So if they do somehow find the Creator's message in the cosmic background radiation, does that mean it's OK to teach Intelligent Design? After all, it WOULD count as science in this case, now wouldn't it?

It would be "intelligent design" but it would have no obvious bearing on evolution. Not that the Fundies would understand or care.

If a creator has left messages in cosmic background radiation, Christians will immediately seize upon it and argue that it somehow validates the claims of Christianity. It would never occur to them (as it never seems to cross their minds where ID is concerned) that this "creator" may not necessarily be the Christian God. It could be Allah, or Brahman, or Ahura Mazda, or some unknown/unacknowledged comic mind.
