Tonight, weather permitting, I'll be examining Mars through a high-power telescope.
Embarrassingly, I've never used a scope for planetary observation. For all of my interest in astronomy, I've never seen so much as the rings of Saturn or the Red Spot on Jupiter firsthand.
There. I've confessed.

Te absolvo. Your astronomical sins are forgiven. Now you won't go to Limbo (or worse).
I've never looked through a proper telescope full stop.
For the expense of a decent telescope, what can you see with worsening light pollution? Sigh.
