Outdoor sculpture at the Kemper Museum:





These crabs cluster around the base of the piece above. It's unclear if they're worshipping the woman looming above them or waiting for her to descend so they can tear her to shreds with those pincers.





This piece is one of several industrial sculptures designed to resemble the Grand Canyon. I can easily imagine someone tripping and getting impaled on that spike.

The astrological sign of Cancer the Crab is the matriarch of the Zodiac. Could that be the symbolism involved here?

Probably. But I like the idea that she's imprisoned up there by flesh-eating crabs.

She does look delicious (and not just from a crab's perspective).
