Everyday is like Sunday

This first picture shows the crumbling, leprous hand of one of the Chinese warrior statues that have been the bane of the Plaza ever since the first vandal realized that removing their heads is alarmingly easy . . .

Everywhere I look workmen are repaving, a near-Sisyphusian effort at urban renewal.

Typical flooding along Brush Creek.

A lion surveys the aftermath. The warrior statues can be seen standing ineffectively in the distance.

Hey, Dude, you live in a kinda odd place, whats up with all the art?

It's Kansas City's commercial district, thus lots of fountains, etc. A little bastion of "culture" in the Midwest; there are a few (Lawrence, KS being another, although you'd never guess it given the "Intelligent Design" controversy...)

Lawrence is mostly bars and churches. Any culture to be found is likely on the KU campus, which is more of an enclave than an actual part of the town. Generally speaking, of course.

I really like all these "views" into KC, it exposes me to a "culture" I never would have known even existed there... we always assume things about places, and find usually, we are off the mark a pace or two. KC is a good example of that for me.
